Power of a Peaceful Mind
Power of a Peaceful Mind In situations of conflict, we easily become angry. We rely upon anger, as if it were a trusted friend, to ‘win’ our battles. However, anger limits us and leaves a trail of painful feelings. On the other hand, the creative mind of patience opens us to options. In this series, we learn to understand and meditate on patience. We will discover how meditation helps us to find peaceful solutions. Classes build as a series; each one stands alone, and drop-ins are welcome.

What we're about

Public Group

Please join our growing group of people of all ages in the Ridgewood NJ area who are interested in developing inner peace and contentment through meditation. Classes are held once a week on a variety of topics such as anger, deepening relationships, developing contentment, and developing a meditation practice. Although the classes are based on the teachings of Buddhism, you don’t have to be Buddhist to benefit from the teachings.

Classes are offered through the Dharmachakra Buddhist Center, which is a Buddhist meditation center in northern New Jersey that is now offering classes in the Ridgewood area. We offer instruction in meditation and Buddhist spiritual practice. We envision a world based upon compassion and inner peace, where anyone who wishes can travel the path to enlightenment. We are building this world one mind at a time.

Meditation is for everyone, from those who seek relaxation to those who wish to follow the Buddhist spiritual path. Buddhist teachings are for everyone, regardless of spiritual background, and you do not need to be Buddhist to benefit from them. Buddhism is not evangelical. Buddhist teachings are intended as practical advice to solve inner problems and benefit others.

We are dedicated to helping you find happiness from within your own heart and real solutions to your problems through Buddha’s advice. We provide instruction in Buddhist meditation and we promote the teachings and ideals of Kadampa Buddhism in New Jersey.

The New Kadampa Tradition is a lineage of Buddhism that is practiced worldwide and is independent of any Asian culture. This lineage was first introduced to the West in 1976 and since then has spread to more than 36 countries and 600 centers worldwide. This lineage originated in India and Tibet, and is presented in contemporary form by the life and works of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

As a not-for-profit organization, Dharmachakra Buddhist Center (DBC) relies on the generosity of our students and friends to make our programming possible. Along with fees generated by classes held at DBC and satellite locations, we depend on contributions to meet our expenses. No one is turned away from class because of inability to pay.
