What we're about

Interested in doing some road cycling with a group, but not quite fast enough to join the local cycling clubs? Or you are a speedster and are just looking to find new people to ride with and don't mind slowing down a bit? Lets create our own group and ride together.

I've been doing a lot of riding in the area alone averaging around 13 mph. Unfortunately, I've found that that's not quite fast enough to find groups to ride with in this area. So if you are looking for fun new rides and can keep at least a moderate pace (12-14 mph average pace), lets explore the area together!

Range Road in Fort Walton Beach - New time 8:30

Location visible to members

Range Rd is a very popular road that cyclists use since there is very little traffic on that road, and the vehicles that do use it know to expect bicycles and are very courteous. It is a road though, and not a trail, so you will need to have some comfort in being able to ride on a road. Also, because this is part of the Eglin Reservation you will need to have an Eglin Recreational pass on you in case we get stopped by the police and asked to show our passes. You can do that online and print out your pass, here is the website to get that. https://eglin.isportsman.net/OutdoorRecPermits.aspx The goal will be to go to the first stop sign and back for a total of 17 miles, but we'll just go with the flow and see how everyone feels. This is a no drop ride so you won't be left behind. Depending on the size of the group, we'll either split up into different groups based on speed (the faster groups will wait at certain points to regroup before continuing), or we will only go as fast as our slowest rider if its a smaller group. What you'll need for this ride: - A bicycle. Doesn't necessarily need to be a Road Bike, but should have some gears. - Eglin Recreational pass (see above) - Helmet - Extra tire tubes or patch kit in case of a flat - Plenty of water

30A Casual Bike Ride

Red Fish Taco

Anyone up for a casual ride out on 30A? Most of the summer tourists should be gone by now, so hopefully it won't be too crowded, especially early in the morning. We will decide together how far we want to ride when we get there. We can stop by for some lunch somewhere afterwards if anyone is interested. Hope to see you there!
