ROAD SHARKS are a group of Safe, Happy, Aware, Respectful, Kind, Super Cyclists! OUR NAME is our Mission Statement!! Each of these descriptors exemplifies the members we are looking for and, if that’s you, we hope you will join us. Our purpose is to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle through cycling with friends and give back to our community and environment by participating in charity events. Some of the events we have participated in are:
• Tour de Cure for Diabetes • Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Fallen Heroes Memorial Ride • Sharky’s Ride the Beaches for Cancer
We are also about friendship and social time – it’s great to meet for lunch after a ride to share all the fun we experienced!
All members will need to have a road bike and attend rides on a regular basis to maintain membership. We post rides during the week and on weekends locally in Hillsborough County but also travel north to Citrus and Hernando Counties and south to Manatee and Sarasota Counties. When participating in charity rides, we also travel a little farther to those locations (Orlando, Venice, etc.). Rides are posted to the Meetup site with details such as date, time, location, and speed. The majority of rides will be posted as “No Drop” rides to assist riders with advancing their skills but there may be occasions where a ride is posted as a “Drop” ride at the discretion of a specific ride leader, which means you are welcome to join the ride and you have knowledge of how to return to the start should you get separated from the group.
Cycling has inherent dangers and you are solely responsible for your own safety. By joining Road Sharks Meetup group and participating in any activities related to this group, such as bike rides and social events (per the Electronic Records and Signatures in Commerce Act), you acknowledge that you understand the potential risk of accidents, injuries, and even death. As a member of Road Sharks Cycling, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Road Sharks and ALL members from ALL claims or liability, including court costs and legal fees, for injury or death to any person or for damage to property, loss of personal property, or any other wrongful act arising out of or relating to your participation as a member. Also, as a member of Road Sharks, should you have a guest accompany you on any Road Sharks’ ride, it is your responsibility to inform the guest that this agreement applies to them as well.
