July: The Joy of Functional Testing with SpecFlow

Details

Presented by Sean Killeen.

Functional testing is a great way to ensure we're not just building the thing right, but building the right thing. In this session, we'll examine the testing pyramid, the place of functional testing, and how to write Gherkin syntax with SpecFlow to move toward acceptance test driven development. We'll use a real world sample to show a few cycles of acceptance tests in the language of the business, and talk about one project's real-world functional testing journey.

Sean is a Principal Technical Fellow for Modern Software Delivery at Excella. Originally from the Philadelphia area, he is a Microsoft MVP with 15+ years of experience solving problems for commercial, non-profit, and federal clients. He's currently the lead of the NUnit docs project. In real life, you can find him enjoying being a dad to a toddler, fiddling with OSS projects, sipping great beer, patiently waiting for the pandemic to end, or singing somewhere. Digitally, you can find him on Twitter at @sjkilleen or blogging not nearly often enough at SeanKilleen.com. He doesn't bite; say hi!
