Michael Irwin and Russ Fenn: Getting up and Running with Containers
Being new to containers can feel like sitting in front of a firehose and trying to drink all of the water coming at you. If you feel that way, no worries! In this presentation, we’re going to dive into what containers and images actually are and some best practices around them, how to use volumes and port mappings, and how to run multi-service applications. There will be quite a few hands-on opportunities. You won’t want to miss this!
Russ Fenn is a web application and infrastructure team leader at Virginia Tech, who manages a menagerie of container and legacy applications.
We meet on the first Thursday of each month at the
Grandin CoLab (http://www.grandincolab.com/), next to Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op on Grandin Ave (https://goo.gl/maps/jwsnC).
