The Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC) presents the Official Regional Premiere of The Startup Kids, a documentary about young web entrepreneurs in the US and Europe. It contains inspiring stories and thoughts from an all-star group of interviewees who know all about startup culture. We’re excited to bring this film to our area (and Virginia) for the first time.
The film was created by two Icelandic entrepreneurs who founded their first company soon after the economic collapse in their country. The young women travel through North America and Europe interviewing an impressive list of young founders including Vimeo, Soundcloud, Kiip, inDinero, Dropbox, and Foodspotting, who talk about how they started their company and their life as an entrepreneur. The women’s mission is to motivate other young people to become entrepreneurs.
The take away from this film is that entrepreneurship is no longer just a business term. Entrepreneurship is a way of life. There is no better time than now to start your idea, so what are you waiting for?! Join us for this inspiring film and networking event to connect with like-minded individuals.
Our mission with this film: Foster and grow the Entrepreneurial Spirit in our region and build our Startup ecosystem.
Cost: $5 admission with 100% proceeds donated to our regions Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program, to help our youth build Robots through Virginia First Org. Networking with food and drinks will also be coordinated with the screenings.
