I have been working with a broad group of makers to try and bring about a shiny new hacker/maker space in the Salt Lake area. We are looking to get feedback and support from as many people as possible. If you have any interest at all in making and being a member of a growing community, please come, mingle, and voice your opinion.
At 6:00 PM, we'll begin discussing the laser cutter, 3D printers, and other equipment we'll be buying. In addition, we'll talk about the merger of MakeSLC and other local maker groups.
At 6:30 PM, we will have a short field trip to go see the new space itself, the "Wright Building". It's a beautiful building, with a gigantic warehouse area (18ft ceilings), a lounge area, a well-lit classroom with windows, and some office areas. Those who wants to rent warehouse space, desks, cubicles, rooms, etc. will have a chance to see what interests them.
We have a wonderful vision of a vibrant maker community, and have some of the parts in place. But basically, this is a "now that we have the first steps in place, what's next?" planning meeting.
