IP Considerations for Robots and AI

Details

Please join us for another Robotics, AI, and the Law Meetup. Our speaker this month is Attorney Steven A. Swernofsky, He is the part-time General Counsel of Telepresence Robotics and Managing Partner of Los Altos Law.

Our topic: In this presentation, Mr. Swernofsky will discuss IP considerations for Robots and AI. These can include whether certain types of IP considerations apply to robots or to AI techniques, whether users of robots or of AI techniques are likely to be subject to any IP considerations, and how the law is likely to evolve to account for robots and AI techniques. Some speculation is inevitable, so please bring questions and ideas for discussion.

Our speaker: In his professional career, Mr. Swernofsky has held numerous roles, including prosecuting the first (and more important) patents for Cisco, NetApp, and other well-known Silicon Valley companies. Mr. Swernofsky has a BS from MIT, where he studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with special projects in computer networking and security. He worked in at The MITRE Corporation and at Bolt, Beranek & Newman (BBN) in both computer networking and security before attending UCLA School of Law for his JD. He is interested in machine learning, information theory, and multi-computer architectures.

A dial-in will be provided no later than the evening before the talk for those who cannot come in person. If you are planning on attending in person, please leave a comment so we can plan refreshments.

Slides: Right before the talk, a link to see any slides the speaker wants to present will be provided. (There may or may not be slides.) This link will expire at the end of the talk, but we will distribute a pdf of the slides by download afterwards. We hope you can attend the program, and thank you for your interest. Steve Wu
