What we’re about
Welcome to the Secular Humanists of Rochester meetup group.
You can help support us by donating here.
We are a chapter of the American Humanist Association.
Our goal is to provide a welcoming and safe place for all persons whether they consider themselves a humanist, atheist, agnostic, freethinker, nonbeliever, nontheist, none, or skeptic. People questioning their faith are welcome, but be aware that secular humanism is at the forefront of this group. Proselytizing is not permitted.
Are you humanist? Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism or other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good. Secular humanism, or simply humanism, is a philosophy, belief, system or life stance that embraces human reason, secular ethics, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, and superstition as the basis of morality and decision-making.
Whichever words you use to describe your philosophy of life, we’re glad you’re here and hope to see you at one of our upcoming events real soon.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact one of us on the Leadership Team.
