What we're about
Helping To Build Our Community!
Welcome to the Secular Humanists of Rochester meetup group! A chapter of the American Humanist Association.
Our goal is to provide a welcoming and safe place for all persons whether they consider themselves a humanist, atheist, agnostic, freethinker, nonbeliever, nontheist, skeptic, pagan, or do I dare say, an infidel.
Are you humanist? Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism or other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good.
Secular humanism, often simply called humanism, is a philosophy, belief system or life stance that embraces human reason, secular ethics, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, and superstition as the basis of morality and decision making.
Whichever word you use to describe your philosophy of life, we’re glad you’re here and hope to see you at one of our upcoming events real soon.
If you have any questions, or suggestions, please contact one of us on the Leadership Team.
“If we only look out for ourselves, we would have only one person on our side.
If all of us look out for each other, we would have millions.”
