Freelance Marketplace Writers' Group
This Rochester based group is open to all new, working, and published writers, photographers, and illustrators. All genres welcome and free to attend. We are NOT a critique group - we discuss the business of writing. We meet the third Tuesday of the month* - come once, once in a while, or every time - hope you can join us. Our meeting could be anywhere in the store - B&N changes displays and merchandise areas - so please look for us from the events area to the used book area and everywhere in between. Please note: We meet at the courtesy of store management. However, this is not an official B&N event, therefore you will not find us listed online or in their newsletter. Staff may or may not be familiar with our meeting. We have met here since 2008. *We do not meet in December. What we're about

Rochester Writers serves new, working and published writers. We promote writing groups, conferences, and workshops in Michigan. The network includes authors and novelists, journalists and reporters, poets, songwriters, and bloggers. We welcome fiction and non-fiction writers. Our signature event is the Rochester Writers' Conference in October at Oakland University, in the heart of Southeast Michigan. The conference attracts attendees from several states and Canada.

Rochester Writers hosts the Freelance Marketplace Writers' Group. It meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Rochester Hills at 7:30 p.m. to Discuss the Business of Writing. Our Spring Conference will have a main theme (Story Structure 2014, Social Media 2015) each year. While our Fall conference is a general writers' event with workshops, lectures and panel discussions for fiction, non-fiction and business concepts. With a diverse community of speakers, Rochester Writers hosts special workshops and events for venues, such as public libraries, around the area. Professional development presentations are available.

Rochester Writers also hosts writing contests throughout the year. A nominal fee to enter with prizes and recognition. Several categories to choose from. If you're an author, freelance journalist, blogger, poet, songwriter, etc. and you want to tune your craft, promote your talent, and sell your work, please join us for one of our many events.
