What we're about

Welcome to the Roswell Insight Meditation Community! We are a teacher led community dedicated to cultivating greater understanding, compassion, and wisdom, through the teachings of the Buddha. We practice in the tradition of Insight Meditation, or Vipassana, which teaches methods for opening the heart and mind, and seeing more clearly into the true nature of our interconnected existence. We welcome practitioners from diverse spiritual and secular traditions. It is not necessary to become a “Buddhist” to participate in our community, and our tradition emphasizes our shared potential for awakening, rather than following a fixed system of beliefs. Please visit our web site at www.roswellinsightmeditation.org for more information.

Online Sitting, Dharma Talk, Discussion/Q&A "Together, Yet Apart"

Roswell Insight would like to invite you to join us virtually through Zoom on Monday, November 2nd at 7:00 pm. We will have a sitting meditation, Dharma talk, discussion/Q&A, loving kindness and announcements will follow. A typical night using this format would probably end between 8:15 and 8:30. During this period of "Together, Yet Apart" our resolve must be even stronger to commit to a daily practice which, as we have often said, is for all sentient beings. With additional time likely spent away from work and others it may be the perfect time for us to continue to sit "together, yet apart" or even strengthen our practice. During these days of stress, concern and social (physical) distancing it is important that we do not become disconnected. It is also an important time to reconnect with those in isolation or in need. To Make Zoom Easier: Go to Zoom.us, download and install the software and create a free account. https://zoom.us To Attend: To join the meeting click on the link, https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88644623478?pwd=ZVR3WmMvVXE0bW45OHlkRi9ZOGsrdz09 Type your name so everyone knows who is there and be sure to "Join using computer audio" Zoom Tips: From there, you’ll see a blank screen with your username in white letters in the middle of it. Wiggle your mouse around or move your finger around on your track pad. This will make visible a command bar at the bottom of the screen that should have options, running left to right, as follows: Mute/Unmute | Start/Stop video | Invite | Manage Participants (if you’re the host) | Share | Chat | Record (possibly only the host sees this one) These first two commands and the share button are the most important ones for our purposes. ‘Mute/Unmute’ obviously controls your microphone. If you hit ‘start video’ your camera will come on. When you hit ‘stop video,’ people will just see that same blank screen with your username in white text. Gallery or Speaker View: In the upper right corner of the screen, you should see the words or symbols for "gallery view" or "speaker view." Gallery view shows all participants at once. Speaker view shows whoever is hosting the meeting or happens to be speaking. To call in: **If you do not have computer access then use the following to call in: Call: (415)[masked] or (646)[masked] AND follow the verbal instructions. Enter the meeting ID you wish to join [masked]) followed by the # key. There is no participant ID so if it asks for one press the # key and you should be in the meeting. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we try this new meeting method. Feel free to email Veletta at [masked] with any questions you may have and she will do her best to answer them. We will continue sending loving kindness to each of you and the world community at large! With a deep bow, RIMC Leadership
