TLDR: October 17th is the date of the second Marathon 101 session: Strength Training for Performance and Injury Prevention. Our Friends from Green Apple Chiropractic will be joining us to lead a strength training session and answer any questions!
To all my fellow Charlotte Runners (out of towners welcome, we’re an inclusive bunch)! If you’re anything like me, you eek by with minimal strength training/maybe none at all because why would you lift a weight when you could let your legs run free on the pavement. After all, our goal isn’t to rip through T-shirts in hulk-like splendor, our goal is to fly like Eliud Kipchoge beating the two-hour marathon (haters need not apply). Well, as it turns out we can learn something from our fellow athletes cranking out weighted reps, getting yoked/ swole/whatever else the cool kids are calling it these days. Strength is a huge component of performance and injury prevention. So, come learn some essential strengthen training that will help you achieve your next PR or cross your first finish line without sustaining a sidelining injury….and we all know you haven’t seen true rage until you’ve seen an athlete forced to sit still.
