Kevin Lynagh will discuss prototyping a search-based, desktop user interface designed to replace tools like Finder, the OS X Dock, and windows with tabs.

He'll discuss using Rust reach into dark, undocumented parts of OS X; to interop with JavaScript in an Electron-based GUI; and to build and search indexes of filesystem data. He'll also discuss design principles for building low-latency interactive applications, the challenges of measuring performance across multiple languages, and what happens when your code meets other people's computers.
