Habitat For Humanity Volunteers Needed For Saturday 12/04 In Blue Ridge 8:00am

The Build:
I’m looking for volunteers for the next Habitat for Humanity build date. We’ll meet at the Abernathy's Complete Home Furnishings parking lot in Blue Ridge at 8:15am, PLEASE BE ON TIME, and we’ll then caravan to the work site. When we arrive we'll sign in, grab some coffee and go over safety instructions and work details before we begin. We’ll then work together with all the other volunteers on the build from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Some of us may stay longer, depending on where we are at with the build, but you can leave at 3:00pm or earlier if needed.
I’ve worked on several Habitat for Humanity builds and it’s not only providing a service to the community but it’s fun, gratifying, a great way to get some exercise during the colder months and you’ll learn some useful skills.

No experience necessary, you'll work at your own pace and we'll teach you how to build! The incredible Habitat for Humanity house leader, Bruce Burn, and his hardworking construction committee have been busy, busy, busy planning, preparing and working on the Thorton home!! Please join us for the fun!

Lunch will be provided in the afternoon by Habitat for Humanity for all volunteers.
*Coffee will be provided when you arrive in the morning and unusually donuts or snacks. ***Feel free to contribute something if you'd like for the volunteers before we get started in the morning, such as muffins for example, but there is no obligation***

Things To Bring:
Wear closed toe shoes, sunscreen, gloves and a hat. If you own sturdy work gloves and/or knee pads those would be helpful as well. Habitat for Humanity provides the tools needed but you are welcome to bring your own hammer, tape measure and any other tools you think might be helpful if you'd like. Be sure to label any tools that you bring with your name.

I will update this as the date approaches and this build date could be postponed if foul weather is predicted for 12/04/2021. I will send out notifications if this build date should be cancelled.

How To Dress:
Dress in layers because the morning will be chilly but you’ll warm up when the work begins and as the day warms up. We will be outdoors for the 6 hours on the build.

When you arrive you MUST SIGN IN for liability purposes. The work morning will begin at 9am with Safety talk and work instructions.

Waivers will be provided when we sign in at the job site. YOU MUST HAVE A WAIVER ON FILE ON PROPERTY TO PARTICIPATE. If you've already signed a waiver for this particular build you are not required to submit another one.

Masks are NOT required if you are already vaccinated. Feel free to wear a mask if you want one for your own comfort.

Len Foote Hike Inn Winter Visit at 40% Off

Len Foote Hike Inn

Join us at Georgia’s only backcountry inn on Monday, December 13 for a one night stay. This event is being posted six months in advance at a time that there are plenty of rooms available for
our group. All 20 rooms were available as of this posting. There are 19 now that I have reserved my room. I strongly suggest that you book your room now as soon as possible. (Some December dates are sold out already. December 2, 5, 6, 24, 25 are completely sold out.)

The Inn is accessible only by foot over a 5 mile Moderate hiking trail. Taking an average of 3 hrs. , the trail has many places to take a break and vistas to see on the way.

Make your reservation online at
http://hike-inn.com or by calling Len Foot Inn at[masked]. (8:30 AM-2:30 PM)
Choose December 13, 2021 for check in and December 14, 2021 for check out. Be sure to select 1 person or 2 persons when you reserve your room. Or you can select 1 person for single occupancy for now and add a room mate later. If you would like a room mate to save money, you can post that in the comments.

(Cancellations must be made 7 days in advance for a refund and a $10 cancellation fee per each room will be charged.)

What To Expect:
When you arrive at Amicalola State Park, you will need to pay the $5 cash park fee either at the kiosk or at the Visitor’s Center. Monday-Friday -Len Foote Inn guests have the option of checking in behind the Amicalola Visitor’s Center at the Hike Inn Office Window. All Len Foote Hike Inn guests must start their hike by 2:00 PM.

After parking at the top of the Southeast’s
tallest waterfall, we will hike the 5 mile Moderate trail that leads to the 20 room lodge. You will need toiletries, a change of clothes, camp shoes, a flashlight, a rain poncho, hiking gear, first aid supplies, lunch, water, snacks, cash for cookies or a packed lunch from The Inn.

Meet us at the top at 11:00 AM. You need to check in at the Visitor’s Center before going to the top to start the hike.

This is not a hotel. It is more like a rustic bunkhouse with two extra long bunk beds. (6 ft. 7 in.) There is a bath house that has hot showers, sinks, hairdryer, shampoo, body wash, and odor free compost toilets. Bed linens, pillows, towels, and wash cloths are provided. There are no outlets in the bunkhouse. There are no trash cans at the Inn. You will need to backpack all trash out when you leave. Cell phone use is strongly discouraged at the Inn. No pets are allowed at the Hike Inn.

A delicious supper and breakfast will be served in the dining room and were included in the price for your room reservation. If you would like to purchase a sack lunch for your hike out on Tuesday, bring $8 cash.

This is a “rain, snow, or shine event”.
