SAE Innovations in Mobility presents ...
HOW and WHEN AV's Will Reduce Freeway Congestion
by Author and Professor Dr. Allen Fuhs
Tuesday August 28th 6:30-8:30pm
Prospect SV, 1608 Las Plumas Ave, San Jose, CA
Allen Fuhs will talk about how concepts like quantum mechanics are used to produce models for traffic behavior and congestion. AVs and platooning are potential grails that we hope will make life better for all of us. As we know from the SV/Bay Area, we have already breached a sanity point. When will the promised day come about? We hope you will have more answers after Dr. Fuhs presentation.
Dr. Allen Fuhs, Distinguished Professor, earned his PHD at CalTech after growing up in New Mexico and serving almost 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War. Allen is a Fellow of SAE, from which he was awarded the SAE Teetor Award for excellence in teaching. Allen rediscovered the antiprism cube and was developed by him in assisting Sigma Xi, the National Research Society, in a nation-wide STEM project.
Allen is now semi-retired after a teaching career including 21 years as an engineering professor at the Naval Postgraduate School. He has written 11 books, the most recent two being a 1,000 page book simply titled “Tsunami”, and a book on “Hybrid Automobiles”. He recently received coverage in the Los Angeles Times and other newspapers detailing his theory on towing tabular icebergs to solve our drought problem. If Allen has a choice between housework and writing a book, guess which activity receives priority. (Maxine, his lady friend, carefully censors all his talks to avoid technical jargon.)
The presentation will begin at 7pm, with networking beginning around 6:30pm. Food and beverage (beer!) provided. See you there!
