What we're about

WELCOME TO OUR CLUB

We provide writers four basic needs:

FELLOWSHIP - Hang around other authors and writers who love to write.

OPPORTUNITY TO WRITE - You may choose what you would like to write or select one of our subjects for a 1000 word practice exercise.

AVAILABILITY OF CRITIQUE - You will have the opportunity to receive critical analysis of your work - if you wish.

NEW LEARNING EXPERIENCE - We will have four major learning experiences each year with several smaller presentations during our meetings.

Why join us? We love writing and we want to write well. If this is your goal, we can help.

Upcoming events (5+)

San Antonio Writer's Meetup Group meets the second and fourth Sunday.

La Madeline - Blanco and Loop 410

Ten members were present on March 24th. Writing excerpts from Gina and Cathy used a bird, one mystical and one a pet . Joanna's writing again focused on reality, this time a memoir about income taxes. Neal and Elizabeth presented a touch of sci-fi and fantasy, respectively. Al advanced his novel with chapter 4 sending a Ford F-150 into probable disrepair. Peter's chapter 2 from his NYC thriller had some humerus moments with Winnie the drama student. A written scene proving to be an acting sequence surprised us all. Productive input from all was welcomed. Bring a poem, short story, novel, screen play or excerpt from your current or past work—as long as it's only 1200 words (3 pages single space or 4 pages double space). Fiction and non-fiction are part of our diversity. First time visitors are free and a $1.00 fee (for Meetup administration) at each meeting is assessed. Critiques point out what is outstanding about the presentation and what could make it more outstanding. Handouts of your writing invites grammar, word choice and other editing comments. A minimum of 6 copies has been suggested, but our average attendance goal is 12. Come at 2;00 to partake of LaMadeleine's food & drink as we start promptly at 2:30. Next Meeting is MARCH 24.
