In these uncertain times we decided to reach out to the the City, UCSD and others to talk about the most pressing needs of our communities that can be addressed with data and technology.

Please join our virtual panel discussion on May 27 from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. with experts from the City of San Diego, UCSD Design Lab, Open San Diego and Cox Communications to chat about the current situation, challenges during reopening, tracking citizens without violating privacy and opportunities for out-of-the box thinking in addressing these issues.

The panel will be moderated by Daniel Obodovski, co-founder of SCALE SD.

Panelists include:

Amy Nguyen-Chyung, Lab to Market Faculty, UCSD
Dr. Amy Nguyen-Chyung is responsible for content development and instruction of the capstone course Lab to Market. At the Rady School, she has also taught Strategy and Managerial Economics. She is a Visiting Assistant Professor and joins the Rady School from University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, where she was nominated for the Golden Apple Teaching Award and the Weekend MBA Teaching Excellence Award.

Nikolaj Baer, Steering Committee Member at Open San Diego
Nikolaj is an organizing member of Open San Diego, as well as a lead on the Meals Count and Brigade Project Index projects. When not hacking on civic tech, he runs the development team at Cuker, a digital agency in Carlsbad, as Director of Technology.

Stephen Rusche, Senior Director of Smart Communities, Cox Communications
As Senior Director of Smart Communities, Stephen leads the go-to-market sales and marketing teams. He serves as the primary point of accountability for business development/sales performance in Smart Communities at Cox Business. His field deployed team serves as smart community subject matter experts in Cox markets and works with Cox Business account teams and local market leadership to respond to the evolving needs of cities and businesses.

Cassandra Weinlein, Director of Government Affairs, Cox Communications
Cassandra Weinlein serves as the Director of Government Affairs for Cox Communications and oversees Federal and State matters. Prior to her time with Cox Communications she worked for San Diego City Councilmember Scott Sherman serving as Director of Budget and Infrastructure Policy, managing the Councilmember’s policy platforms and priorities.
