What we're about
Upcoming events (1)
Join us for Saturday, Sunday, or both as we essentially cross the entire San Bernardino Mountain range starting from the floor of the desert in Johnson Valley and ending up at Silverwood Lake on the western side. This event has something to offer drivers and rigs of all levels.
This special SCORCH event is a chance to get away from the late-summer heat by climbing high into the sky around Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, and beyond. We'll start at Rattlesnake Canyon on Saturday morning and end up on Pilot Rock Truck Trail by Sunday afternoon.
You will enjoy beautiful vistas, varying terrain, fresh air, a touch of history, and a chance for some off-road driving challenges all packed into one event.
The Saturday meetup point will be at the intersection of Rattlesnake Canyon and Old Woman Springs Road (HWY 247). Typing "Rattlesnake Canyon and Old Woman Springs Road" into Google Maps or Waze will get you there. Here's a link --> https://goo.gl/maps/AANhn54nkrSaqkTJ9
We'll have a limited number of SCORCH T-Shirts available for $30 cash or Venmo.
CAN I HANDLE THIS?
Newbies. Saturday will be a great newbie ride that covers a range of terrains while keeping the challenges easy. Sunday will have more to offer advanced drivers but is a little TBD at the moment since we will need to re-scout the trail in July but we expect no problem finding a great newbie route.
Intermediates: You will be will be able to handle both days. Saturday will be pretty simple and Sunday has many side challenges you can use to open it up.
Hardcore: Saturday will be a cakewalk but nothing is stopping you from an evening run through John Bull or Holcombe Creek. Sunday will have some nice options for you to tear it up a bit.
Since we like to give lots of details about our rides and Meetup only gives us 4000 characters to do it, please visit the event page on our site for the full lowdown like camping info and what equipment to bring at https://www.scorch4x4.com/san-berardino-mountains-2021
Some of you will recall we tried to pull this off in 2020 but raging fires closed all campsites days before the event. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Post any questions or discussion items here on meetup in the event chat.
If you are planning on doing both days, book your campsite ASAP for Saturday night. Last time we announced this ride, our members booked out the whole campsite fairly quickly.
