Bikepack Catalina Island

Details
Info about this trip is on its way shortly, but I just wanted to get it on the map and give members a heads up. Basically, it is just backpacking but with mountain bikes. This will be very strenuous, but well worth the effort.
If you have the bike but need panniers, check out these killer deals on EBay (or make your own search):
• ROSWHEEL CyclingRoad MTB Mountain Bike Bag Bicycle Pannier Rear Seat Trunk Bag (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROSWHEEL-CyclingRoad-MTB-Mountain-Bike-Bag-Bicycle-Pannier-Rear-Seat-Trunk-Bag/141670844330?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D525de6f661274549a89f357bd891513e%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D141670844330) - $38.00 for 2 side bags and a top bag.
• Rack (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-Duty-Black-Rear-Bike-Rack-Carrier-W-Clamp-for-Mountain-Bike-w-Disc-Brake-/281674806363?hash=item419520745b) - $40.00
Thanks to Brian for finding these!
With these panniers and a mid-sized backpack, you should be good to go.
I would plan on bringing a light sleeping bag, light pad, small tent or even a bivy (I am going to give that a try), or sleep under the stars. There is food to be bought on the island, but this will add to your cost quite a bit.
I plan on bringing freeze dried dinners, snacks and oatmeal for breakfast, then maybe fill in the gaps with some buffalo burgers.
There is water on around the island, but there may be long stretches between fill ups, so bring containers for at least 3 liters.
Round trip ferry ride is about $70, and there will be a permit fee, and campground fees. Plan on maybe a couple hundred bucks.
More info to come.
Note - the rsvp fee is really a commitment deposit that will only be returned/refunded when you set foot on the ferry.
Take care and see you out there!
