    What we're about

SF Hills, Stairs & Trails Urban Hiking Club is inspired by "Carpe diem", a Latin aphorism usually translated to "seize the day", taken from a poem in the Odes (book 1, number 11) in 23 BC by the poet Horace.

We are also inspired by the following articles:

By Kit Eaton at nytimes.com (http://www.nytimes.com/) - These Apps Are Made for Walking (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/20/technology/personaltech/these-apps-are-made-for-walking.html?module=Search&mabReward=relbias%3As%2C%7B%222%22%3A%22RI%3A17%22%7D&_r=0)

By Gary Wolf at ted.com (http://www.ted.com/) - The quantified self (http://www.ted.com/talks/gary_wolf_the_quantified_self/transcript?language=en)

    More about us -

We are a community of Fantastic Urban Hikers Out door Adventurists who share great love of the outdoors and the meditation of hiking. Coming from all over the world, from all walks of life, our club is an inclusive community of cool people who bring good energy to our hiking and outdoor events.

    What to expect –

The hike is interwoven into the fabric of the city, integrating steep hills, hidden stairways and trails for increased optimization, body motion and social fitness; while inspiring us with jaw dropping views of the city from unique angles. Our hikes are creatively mapped with chilling stations along the way for hydrating and washroom breaks. We will share and connect through community social moments in unique and surprising hideouts, hidden stairways, walkways, open space, community gardens and cool parks and beaches. These hikes are intended to function as medium to intense level workouts - Please come Ready-to-Go with water/fuel/layers of clothing for our SF weather pattern diversity! Expect some pretty challenging medium to intense paced stair workouts combined with uphill sprints.

Liability Waiver: All participants agree to assume 100% responsibility for their own safety, conduct, and well-being and recognize that possible hazards exist while participating in outdoor (or any other) activities, and agree to participate solely at their own risk. If you join this group, and if you RSVP “Yes” and/or attend any of our events, it shall be conclusively presumed you understand and agree to this policy.
