Real User Monitoring @ Walmart.com: A Story in 3 Parts

Details
Everybody knows that page and site performance matters and that the perceived speed of the page can be the deciding factor in a sale. However, there are few who will share what performance means to them specifically in a e-commerce setting.
In this presentation, Cliff Crocker (Sr Manager - @Platform), Aaron Kulick (@Platform), and Balaji Ram (Director, Site Analytics) will present Real User Monitoring (RUM) at Walmart Global E-commerce (GEC).
Specifically, Cliff will describe realities of real user monitoring at Walmart.com including the instrumentation, collection, and presentation of the data. He will share how that data is being used right now to drive the engineering objectives, goals, and forward planning of the entire Walmart GEC site and platform.
Real user monitoring data is often typically considered a "big data" issue and often associate with map reduce jobs, but Aaron will share some novel uses of some existing open source software that Walmart has utilized to provide a real time "window" into that beacon data stream.
Balaji will present the analytics component, the correlations and insights reached by combining real user monitoring data with other site analytics and the specific impact performance has to a site like Walmart.com.
