At this month's Ableton user group meeting, our guest is San Francisco-based artist Decap! He is known for his heavy-hitting beats that incorporate styles from hip-hop, trap, jazz, RnB, and future bass. His signature hybrid of these genres is called Future Knock. He has worked with such artists as Snoop Dogg and Talib Kweli.
Decap is also known for creating his own series of sample packs, "Drums That Knock," which currently is on volume 4. These packs are incredibly successful — they've been the #1 selling sample pack on Splice, and they've been praised by many famous producers. Decap will be giving away 5 copies of Drums That Knock at the end of the meetup.
In this meetup, Decap will walk you through his process for creating a future knock beat from scratch. He'll show you how to adjust the timing of your sounds to create a "bounce." After generating the main components of the song, he'll show you how to arrange these loops and ideas into a structured song. Along the way, he'll share countless insider tips and tricks and show you how to create interesting transitions with automation.
Come out to learn, meet other Ableton users, and get inspired!
