Angel Island Drinks: Mt. Livermore Hike

Details
Hey Happy Hour Hikers!
There was broad consensus from the group that island drinks were in order, so we're off to explore Angel Island for our next hike. This hidden gem offers a beautiful trail, a great summit (788-feet above sea level, 360-degree views), and a very cool cantina to drink beer and eat surprisingly good food, right on the water.
THE HIKE
We will start hiking on Angel Island at 12:30 sharp. See 'Getting There' below to find out how to meet us. We will hike the North Ridge Trail from Ayala Cove, where the ferry docks. The trail is gentle but far from flat, and has amazing views very quickly. At the summit, there are a bunch of places to eat our lunch. The views are unparalleled - Oakland, SF, Marin headlands, Alcatraz, and all 3 bridges. After lunch, we'll head down the Sunset trail to loop back to Ayala Cove.
Facts & Figures:
- 6 total miles and 788 vertical feet
- Should be around 2.5 hours of hiking, 30 minutes or so at the top.
THE HAPPY HOUR
*Most people walk right past the only food place on Angel Island, or stop in to get a quick sandwich. But their food is surprisingly good, and the secret is that they also serve beer and wine. And they have a big outdoor deck to take in the sun. (Note: From June-October, they have live music here every weekend. We'll be back)
GETTING THERE & BACK
- Brian and I will be taking the 11:10 ferry from Pier 41, arriving at 12:20 (stops at Tiburon and Sausalito first, so we get a full bay tour). The ferry serves alcohol. Just sayin. We'll be taking the 4:15 ferry back, arriving at Pier 41 at 5:25. These aren't quick ferries, but the ride has been rated one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world :)
*There's also a Tiburon ferry. It's hourly and takes 12 minutes, so you'll want the noon ferry. Parking is tough in Tiburon, so arrive there extra early. You might be walking, or paying a bunch. You can take the 4:20 ferry back, arriving at 4:35
*So......meet us at the Angel Island Cantina by 12:20, to the right of you as you de-boat. Is that a word? Get off the ferry.
IMPORTANT NOTES
*No four-legged friends unfortunately on the island.
*As always, only RSVP if you are sure you can make it, and update your RSVP asap if plans change. This is important! We limit the number for each hike for everyone's enjoyment, so if you no-show, other people can't go. :(
- There is a bathroom at the meeting area and water.
- If you want to bring guests, they must join the group and RSVP for the event, too, so we can know who's coming. Thanks!
