What we're about

If you are interested in meeting local SFV atheists and freethinkers for conversation and friendship, this is the group to join! We are a fun group, with some very great people. Our group will give you the sense of community that you might be seeking in your atheistic life!

We welcome atheists, agnostics, skeptics, freethinkers, rationalists, humanists of any flavor, and anyone else who embraces reason and a naturalistic view of the universe.

Our mission is to build thriving atheist communities, empower people to express their secular values, and promote the separation of government and religion.

If you’re a progressive atheist and want to enjoy the company of other free-thinkers, you are warmly invited to have lunch with us. We’ll talk about whatever interests us, make new friends and make sense together using rational discourse and wisdom garnered from our lives. Our purpose is social, our philosophy is skeptical humanist, and our politics are progressive. What is a Humanist? Read it here: https://americanhumanist.org/what-is-humanism/humanism-capital-h/ We support the Humanist Manifesto III. Read it here: https://americanhumanist.org/what-is-humanism/manifesto3/

Humanism - Informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by compassion. Natural answers to natural questions

TOPICs : It's nice to have a topic or two to discuss as a starting point. Although segues and general conversation are good too! This is a social conversation. Please write your suggestions in the comments. If we don't get to it this time, I'll collect them for later.
=================== STARTING TOPICS for 12/9 ======================
**Andy and Hyder are going to manage the meeting today. Thanks to them! They will bring topics to discuss. (Jolie is going to a niece's graduation at UC Davis)

By the way, you can continue the discussion between meetings...I created a message board at https://www.meetup.com/atheistsunited/messages/boards/thread/52865300/0#[masked]

🗣Changed to “in person” event 🤗➡️SCAF IRL "in real life" PARTY!!!🧍🏽🧍🏽‍♀️☕️

We're starting IRL general meetings again!!! If that's not reason enough for a party then I don't what is.

This Meetup is for atheists, skeptics, and those who need a break from the largely theistic world and want to meet other folks like themselves. We get together for fellowship, discussion, and breakfast on the second Saturday of every month. Come join us!

You are welcome to ask questions if you are interested in the group, or interested in learning more about atheism, freethinking, or skepticism. Religious people with a sincere interest in understanding us are welcome, BUT please, no proselytizing, preaching, or drive-by condemning. Uncivil or threatening behavior from anyone of any viewpoint will not be tolerated. If you wish to discuss something privately and confidentially, contact Richard Wade by way of meetup Private message.
We have regular monthly meetings attended by 20 to 30 members where we provide confidential mutual support for nonbelievers living in a sometimes hostile environment. Family, friends, and co-workers are often unwilling to understand or accept our lack of belief in deities or the supernatural. We discuss pertinent issues in science, politics, and religion, and generally enjoy being able to speak freely with each other.
We also work to improve the reputation of atheists in general, and participate constructively in our local community through outreach efforts such as feeding the homeless, participating in the annual River Rally, adopting a highway, manning an information booth at appropriate community events in the SCV, and sending representatives to interfaith events locally and in the greater Los Angeles area.

‼️🗣Panera☕️Bread🥐Location Change‼️- Political Talk in Woodland Hills

This is a cross-posting of a group that I enjoy:

https://www.meetup.com/Political-Talk-in-the-San-Fernando-Valley/events/274789584/

We’ll follow the “90 degree Fahrenheit rule”, that we invented:
If the outside temperature is forecasted to be 90 degree or higher, we’ll inside. If it’s 89 degrees or lower we’ll meet outside.
If you can't find us, leave a comment here, as one of us receives meetup notifications instantly.

Many of our Atheist friends participate in this fun meetup and it's always good to gain some new political alleys.
