Copter Ridge starts near Mt Hawkins, but unlike the Hawkins Ridge which goes S, Copter Ridge goes SE through some remote and wild area: much of this trip is steep cross-country. The HPS-peak is at a substantial bump on the ridge, point 7499'.

Half of the gain on the trip is on return: the peak is substantially lower than the start of the ridge.

Maps: annotated (http://daveb.decreation.com/copter-ridge.png), interactive (http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=34.31884,-117.78734&z=15&t=T).

We did this before in 2014 (https://www.meetup.com/SGV-Hikers/events/151620972/).

Stats: 9 miles, 3450' gain (1600' of which is on return)
