What we’re about
We are an affiliate of the American Humanist Association. We are here to be a beacon of reason for those that consider themselves secular, atheist, agnostic, humanist, and/or a free thinker. If you are searching for a place to ask questions, you have found it. If you are searching for an inclusive group that is here to listen and not to judge, you have found it. We stand on the side of equality, not division. The side of science, not pseudoscience. You do not have to agree with everything everyone says, but we do expect kindness, compassion, and civility from all that participate in our events.
Please join us. We would love to meet you!
**Not sure whether or not you're a Humanist? "Humanism is a nontheistic worldview with ethical values informed by scientific knowledge and driven by a desire to meet the needs of people in the here and now. At the foundation of those values is an affirmation of the dignity of every human being." - The American Humanist Association

See all- Lafayette Farmers Market Voter Registration BoothMain Street, Lafayette, IN
**Not sure why this got deleted, but we will be at the Farmer’s Market in Lafayette on 9/20!! Please join us, if you can!!**
I know we’ve still got about a year before we’ll be able to vote for our state representatives again, but it’s never too early to encourage folks to get registered! Plus, it’s a way to be present in the community and let people know there is a secular community here, if they are looking for one!
The Farmers Market is officially open between 8 and 12:00. I’ll be there early to set up, and I’ll stay until 12:30 to tear down. Signing up for this event doesn’t mean you’ll be attending the entire time! Come and stay as long as you’d like, or just pop in to say “hi”!
I’ll have 4 chairs there, but if you’d like to bring your own, that’s fine with me!
We are given 1 free date per year to attend the market as a non-profit community group.
If you want to learn more about voting in Indiana, you can find information here. (that’s also where we help people register and/or check their registration status!)
*Please note - as an affiliate of the American Humanist Association, we must host this event in a non-partisan way! We are not advocating for any specific party or candidate, just there to encourage people to register and to answer any questions they may have!*
- Purdue Global FestPurdue Memorial Union, West Lafayette, IN
Global Fest is a yearly event put on by Purdue. This will be year 30! I’ve actually never been! We aren’t sponsoring the event or anything, but if you want to walk around with other folks and sit and chat in between listening to music, join us! *This is a family friendly event! And FREE!*
The event starts at 3, but I will be at the Farmers Market the Trans Resource Fair until 4. Feel free to attend before 5 and meet up with us whenever!
When they put out the map of the event, I will take a look at where a good meeting spot would be for the initial meet at 5!
Feel free to call or text after 5 to find out where we are: 765-418-6076.
- Book Club: A Short Stay in HellNicole's House, West Lafayette, IN
Ok, the next Book Club suggestion comes from Katie: A Short Stay in Hell!
Synopsis: "An ordinary family man, geologist, and Mormon, Soren Johansson has always believed he’ll be reunited with his loved ones after death in an eternal hereafter. Then, he dies. Soren wakes to find himself cast by a God he has never heard of into a Hell whose dimensions he can barely grasp: a vast library he can only escape from by finding the book that contains the story of his life.
In this haunting existential novella, author, philosopher, and ecologist Steven L. Peck explores a subversive vision of eternity, taking the reader on a journey through the afterlife of a world where everything everyone believed in turns out to be wrong."Please read the book before attending!
I’ll have snacks! Bring a beverage to share, if you are so inclined!
