Upcoming events (5+)
Tippecanoe Arts Federation has a Gallery Walk a few times during the summer, and one of our new members will be displaying some of his work above Nami's Bar and Grill at Rat Pack Mobile DJs! Why not start your weekend with beauty, culture, and awesome company! We can meet where Dave's displaying his work and decide where to go from there! I'll have my two younger kiddos with me, but those interested could stay afterwards for a drink or two! More information and the map can be found here... http://tippecanoearts.org/gallerywalks/
Pride Lafayette is having a fundraiser at The Spot Tavern. It's a Dance Party with music from the 80s and 90s! You will be expected to dress up in that era's fashion, because why not?! There's a drag show from 6:30-8 (bonus points if any of our members participate in the drag show!!) For those of you unfamiliar with Pride Lafayette, it is the only LGBTQ organization in the area that is not affiliated with Purdue. They are amazing people doing very important work for our community! It's $20 to attend. There will be a food truck on site for munchies, and of course, there will be beverages available for purchase! 21+ event! ***As always, this event is free to attend with complimentary lite snacks! Beer is about $5 a glass, if you get parched! Abstract: Is the bush really back, or is going bare down there all the rage? Join us for an informative conversation as Dr. Andrea L. DeMaria untangles her growing body of qualitative and quantitative research related to genital health, hygiene, and hair removal. Her work suggests women delay receiving gynecological care due to feelings about their genitals, such as size, shape, and odor. Recent findings also reveal women engage in a host of pubic hair grooming behaviors, which may result in clinical complications, such as cuts, abrasions, and infections. In this talk, Dr. DeMaria will break down the who, what, where, when, why, and how of genital hygiene practices and pubic hair grooming. She will also share ways to practice healthy genital hygiene, including how-to steps for safe pubic hair removal. Dr. DeMaria is the first scholar to publish on this topic in an OBGYN journal, the American Journal for Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she translated her findings into public health and clinical recommendations for messaging and interventions addressing women's genital health, pubic hair removal complications, and body image in clinic and community settings.
**You do not need to be single to attend! This is a general discussion, not a match making event!** This month's topic will be over Secular Dating. I am not single, but I know a lot of our members are, and I know it can be difficult finding someone that shares your similar values (be they religious views, political views, or anything in between!) What role does religion play in your search for love? Do you find it hard to connect with people who do not share your views? Have you faced discrimination for your personal beliefs? If you're in a relationship, did your secular views play a role in finding your significant other? ...Also, our most recent coffee and conversation was missing the coffee!! I will reach out to the library to ensure there is a coffee maker this next time or I'll bring my own!!
