We are a secular humanist group that meets on the third Sunday of every month for good company and intelligent discussion. Our topics range from science to philosophy to social issues, and much more. Our ideal is to help our community and the world at large.
Our meetings are hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Humanists of Fresno. We meet at the UU Church at 2672 E. Alluvial Ave.
If any of this sounds like you, come join us! Check the event schedule for details.
"Humanism is a progressive lifestance that, without supernaturalism, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity." - American Humanist Association
“Medicare for All” is a popular proposal among Progressives. Medicare is a “single payer” system, where public taxes pay for health insurance for everyone. Insurance companies would be eliminated, or almost. But the devil is in the details.
What would be covered? Dental? Mental health? Chiropractic? Abortion?
Who would be covered? Legal residents? Undocumented?Tourists?
What if people want to pay extra for private insurance? Or for private doctors who won’t accept Medicare?
Most difficult question- How will we pay for it? How much will it cost?
Are there partial steps we can take? A Public Option? Medicare starting at 50? Medicare for children? Should Medicare for all be phased in?
Noon potluck, all welcome with or without bringing food.
Discussion starts at 12:30.
