About us
A meeting of German-language speakers and learners in the SLC area open to all levels of proficiency and fluency. We will try to meet regularly, roughly every two weeks, in the Downtown, University, and Sugar House areas. I would like to keep the meetings informal, but with a focus on learning and improving everyone's speaking abilities and comfort level. Speaking, however, will not be required. If you want to show up and listen in, you're welcome, too. Fluent and native speakers are especially welcome to attend.

Chatting at Woodbine Food Hall
Woodbine Food Hall, 545 West 700 S, Salt Lake City, UT, USHallo alles!
It's been a busy year, and I have been a bit inconsistent with the "every-other-Thursday" scheduling, but I'm thinking we can get a few more evenings on the calendar before the end of the year. I usually pause meetings around Thanksgiving, through the holidays, which would give two more Thursdays before the break. However, I'm always willing to schedule something holiday-related. And if anyone would like to volunteer to host a meeting, just send a message. I'm also always looking for new meeting venues. I would love some suggestions.
It's been several months since we last met at Woodbine Food Hall. I heard there have been some changes with the restaurant lineup, so this seems like an opportunity to see what's new.
If you're not familiar, Woodbine is a long narrow refurbished warehouse building with small food restaurants on each side. As a food hall, it's sort of a testing ground for new restaurants, which means there are several tasty options to try out each time. There is no obligation to buy anything and there are no waiters who want to get another party seated in your spot. It's quite casual.
To get to Woodbine: If you're driving on I-15. Take the 600 South exit, then turn right at the first intersection (400 West), then right again at the next intersection (700 South), and it will be on your left in about 1 and 1/2 blocks.
Parking is free and usually abundant in the area after 5:00, however, if there is an event happening in the area, street parking can be scarce. There is a parking lot behind Woodbine that you can access from 800 South, and more parking along that street.
Anyone with any level of fluency is welcome to attend. There is no agenda or start time, so arrive whenever you can. Guests are also welcome. It's open to anyone, but speaking in German as much as possible is encouraged. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or post a comment below.
And let me know if you have any venue recommendations.
Bis dann!
