The SMART Recovery Social & Reading Group (SR^2) is a closed, peer-led group for participants, facilitators, and friends of SMART Recovery (http://www.smartrecovery.org/) who are familiar with the basics of SMART Recovery. The goals of this group are to delve into the tools and 4 Points of SMART Recovery more deeply and also to socialize outside of SMART meetings.
During reading meetups, we will focus on the study and application of the tools of SMART Recovery in detail, as well as read and apply other books, essays, and articles which can be directly related to the 4 Points of SMART Recovery, focus on lasting behavioral change, and which are science-based. During social meetings, we'll do fun stuff. Hopefully, most meetings will contain a little learning and a little fun!
This is not a facilitated SMART Recovery meeting (for those, visit SMART NYC's page (http://www.smartrecoverynyc.org)), but instead a reading and social group where any member can lead a social outing or a discussion around readings and topics related to the 4 Points of SMART. That means that you can organize and announce a meetup anytime you want. Want to drill ABCs? Schedule a meetup! Want to play ping pong with other SMARTies? Schedule a meetup! This group is what you make it to be!
