Be ready to save the date! Anna Donovan, a published fashion photographer from NYC, and I are planning to set up a 3 day photo workshop in NYC. If you are interested, be aware that RSVPs will be open once the event details are finalized. Models, MUAs, stylists, studio lighting, location, and accommodations are included, roundtrip air transportation to NY. The workshop will be held from Friday to Sunday in late summer. Fees will include several shooting sessions with professional models, stylists, and MUAs at various locations. One session will be devoted to photo retouching using your editing software so laptops will be required. The final agenda and photos of the models and locations will be posted soon. Accommodations will cover Thursday evening to Monday noon. In the meantime, here are a sample of the accommodations we'll be staying at: http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p3480587 http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p3529017 http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p3665995 RSVPs are closed while we line up all the details and will announce the dates and other information shortly. If you are looking to explore Haight and Ashbury then walk down towards the famous Painted ladies, this might be the perfect time to shoot some street art, architecture and the iconic skyline from another perspective. It is also a chance to practice some street photography away from the frenetic downtown. We will be starting around Haight Ashbury, the center of flower power back in the 1960s. Find the last strains of the hippie movement, the summer of love, with the colorful, hippie aesthetic, in this corner of the city. We will then take a leisurely stroll down Haight, capturing the colorful architecture along the way, until we reach the famous Painted ladies for a dusk shoot of the city skyline. The walk will cover about 1.3 miles so wear comfortable footwear. Tripods are recommended but not required for the entire trek. The temperature, while mild, can drop so please dress accordingly.
Who's up for a real challenge? Here is the concept: We will go to an event together, bring your cameras and an EMPTY Memory card. We will discuss a theme and let you loose for the duration of the event. At the end of the event, you will select your 1-3 best photos to be uploaded directly to my laptop. No post processing allowed. Strictly out of camera only. Scared yet? You shouldn't be! This challenge will make you think carefully about your composition and getting those settings right. We will end the day with a vote for the best image(s) and the winner gets a free gift card and bragging rights!
