Special Friday meetup - Speakeasy DC shorts competition 11/16/12

DC Shorts (the largest short film event on the East Coast) and SpeakeasyDC (the area’s most-respected storytelling group) have teamed to create a unique film competition in which teams of filmmakers will be paired with local storytellers to create films based on their stories — and win cash prizes up to $1,000!

This unique 2-Friday event pairs live storytellers with filmmakers. Eight filmmaking teams have only 5 days to write, shoot, edit—and screen a film based on stories from eight local storytellers. The kicker: none of the teams have heard the stories before they are presented.

THE FILMS
Friday, November 16, 9:30pm
With only five days to shoot and edit their films, who knows what will be projected on the big screen? Watch the films, ask questions of the teams — and then cast your vote for your favorite film. After the 9:30 show, one team will walk away with a $1,000 grand prize, and other awards will be presented for the film which most closely follows the original story, and the film which most creatively tells the story. This show runs approximately 90-minutes.
