Caitlyn Barron will present the topic "Utilizing Social Media to Promote Your Photography." There’s an app for that, a platform for this, but where and how does it all work? Or does it? Together we’ll walk step-by-step through the finer points of what it takes to ready your imagery and content to post on Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram as seen through the eyes of a brand. This Learnshop is geared for those who are interested in learning how to market themselves via social learning the latest media insights of trends and forecasts of social media down to the understanding what all the hoopla is about for this “hashtag” thing.

Caitlyn Barron comes to SPS with a background in public relations and digital advertising with a concentrated focus in visual imagery, working the digital media industry as a public relations and social media specialist. She oversees daily communication processes on the levels of strategy, development, operations, campaign management and community for global clients. Further, Caitlyn is also a part-time Instructor of Communication at Kennesaw State University. She is the photojournalism instructor for the Department of Communication and has been part of the Kennesaw State’s faculty since 2012. This fall she is teaching the one of the first hybrid photojournalism courses to be offered in the nation.
Her research interests have taken an in-depth look at visual communication in both journalism and public relations from national and international perspectives. Following research in both Germany and at the Summer Olympics in London, Caitlyn returned to the U.S. to cover the presidential campaign trail at the Democratic National Convention, where she covered the issue of social media’s pertinence to the 2012 presidential election.
Barron received her bachelor’s of Communication from Berry College, with a concentration in Public Relations and holds a master’s in Integrated Global Communication concentrating in public relations and visual communication.

SPS Monthly Meetings (First Friday of each month) are for its members and guests. While competition entries at these monthly meetings are restricted to currently paid-up members, we ALWAYS welcome visitors interested in photography to attend. The Learnshops (Fourth Tuesday of each month) are intended for members, but again, we welcome visitors.
