While Agile is a handy tool for project management, the concept is deeply rooted in the U.S. culture, heavily relying on innate cultural traits that the American workforce brings naturally to the equation. When taken across borders, Agile tends to be interpreted quite differently, especially in cultures that are hierarchic by design. In those cultures, the Waterfall model is the natural and adapting to Agile, while tempting and interesting, does represent large invisible challenges for its users.
In this session, Valérie Berset-Price, a cross-cultural communication expert for the high tech industry, will run us through the main stumbling blocks Agile users will encounter when working with counterparts located in different parts of the world, providing tools that will facilitate the communication and prevent some of the most common pitfalls."
