What we're about

Ukulele Club for likeminded beginners, players and/or performers to have fun together.

Founded in October 2004 with an initial mere 8 members, it is the second oldest Ukulele club in Australia, and is one of the most vibrant and fastest growing clubs in the country.

Meeting on the first Monday of each month, we welcome all uke players and interested persons from complete beginners to professional performers.

We generate a relaxed and informal ambience, giving help and guidance to new players, plus the opportunity for anyone wishing to practice their stagecraft to play their prepared numbers to a friendly and receptive audience. Ample time is given to group strum-alongs from the club songbook.

At some meetings, invited guests come to give special performances and/or instructional workshops.

Upcoming events (5+)

YEWK UKULELE CLUB - Yarrawarra, Engadine, Waterfall.

ENGADINE BOWLING CLUB

Let's welcome the Shire's newest Ukulele club - YEWK. This is a new daytime Uke club, meeting monthly at Engadine Bowling Club on Friday mornings held on the 'First Fridays of each Month'. This club is open to players of all standards but will be giving particular help and attention to newer and less confident players as we go through lots of tunes. Much of our material will be coming from the 'Ukulele Club Songbook' or otherwise known as the 'Grey Book'. These are available from Guitarzone at Sutherland and Engadine Music. We welcome all Shire (and beyond) Ukulele players and their friends to join, learn and inspire. The format will be one of an opportunity to enjoy and try lots of tunes, to gain new experience and to try new things. We welcome our SSCUM members along particularly anyone preferring a daytime get together or who finds the location more convenient to them. Throughout the year we will also be running morning Beginners Ukulele programs at Engadine Bowling Club for anyone wishing to start up. There will be a $5 per person entry cost to cover our function room hire and incidental printing costs etc., for the monthly 'Meetups'. Please place your $5 in the hat as you arrive and your contribution will allow us to continue this event into the future.

SSCUM - St George and Sutherland Commty of Ukulele Musicians Meetup

Together we will be strumming songs, new (contributions on the night) and old (from our club songbook). We will endeavor to provide relaxed guidance to new players and visitors. We provide an opportunity for players to present numbers in a performance style in front of a friendly audience if they wish. Occasional opportunities will be available through the year, to participate in community ukulele activities if desired. Also visiting performers and workshop leaders from time to time. Contact with other Ukulele clubs at times will be a feature of our activities. News of Ukulele Workshops, beginners lessons, and visiting performances will be available. Beginners are most welcome and the emphasis will always be on fun and strumming along. Donation of $10.00 per person to cover costs is welcome.
