- Mobile Apps for Photographers with Gary White
Smartphone and tablet apps are now commonplace. There are many that can help photographers improve their craft and preplan their shots months or years in advance for any location in the world. Several of these top photography apps will be reviewed followed by our member-only Meetup on 7/28/19 to take a deep dive into PhotoPills. About our speaker: Gary White is an SW Photo Club member who has been shooting since high school. His passion for photography was rejuvenated in 2004 with a transition to digital photography. While Gary enjoys all types of shooting, he is especially passionate about travel, portraiture, and macro photography, even editing Joe Klocek's "Macro Photography: Zero to Sixty" book.
- Alternatives to Adobe CC with Shelly Au
Adobe is facing growing competition in the image editing arena as several alternative products are finally emerging. How do these alternatives stack up to the Adobe franchise? Which are the most viable alternatives? And, is there really a cost saving to be had by using these products? About our speaker: Shelly Au has worked for an overseas nonprofit organization for 20 years. He has spent 17 of those years living in various parts of Asia. In 2013, Shelly returned back to America and while in New York, he received the Paula Rhodes Honors Award when he was finished his "Masters of Professional Studies” degree in Digital Photography at the School of Visual Arts under the chair of 2005 Photoshop Hall of Fame inductee Katrin Eismann. Shelly was also awarded as a finalist for the Adobe Design Achievement Award in the photography category in New York and labeled a "Powerful Visual Story Teller" by the judges.
