Ancil Hoffman Park Loop Trail Hike
Hello There! This is such a scenic location with lots of wildlife~a lovely place to get 3 miles in. PLEASE JOIN THE GROUP at 8:45 a.m. in the EFFIE YEAW NATURE CENTER PARKING LOT for a 9:00 am SHARP departure. We'll walk for a minimum of 1 hour at a pace of about 3 miles an hour, around the perimeter of Ancil Hoffman Park on a dirt trail with a few short, steep hills and some uneven terrain, but primarily flat. We will take occasional short breaks if needed. PARKING: Parking is $5.00. With a PERMIT you can park at the Nature Center lot. If no permit, please park your car ONLY on Palm Avenue as close to San Lorenzo Way as possible. Then, WALK down San Lorenzo a couple of minutes to the Nature Center on the left to meet the group. IMPORTANT: LEAVE VALUABLES AT HOME OR CARRY WITH YOU ON HIKE. AND, DO NOT BE SEEN PUTTING ANYTHING IN YOUR TRUNK OR ELSEWHERE IN YOUR CAR. THEY DO SOMETIMES HAVE BREAK-INS AT THIS LOCATION. CARS CAN ACCESS ANCIL HOFFMAN PARK AND EFFIE YEAW NATURE CENTER (ONLY) ON TARSHES ROAD OFF OF CALIFORNIA AVENUE. WHAT TO BRING: Comfortable shoes, hat or visor, sunscreen, light backpack, fanny pack, or belt purse, water for the hike or afterward to drink in car since the hike is so short. * Due to all the rain your shoes could get muddy. PLEASE MAKE CANCELLATIONS BY 9:00 P.M. PREVIOUS EVENING AS A COURTESY TO THE HOST. THANK YOU!

What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in hiking and "bagging peaks", but at a slower pace. If you enjoy hiking but sometimes feel like you are "holding up the group", then you might want to try this group. I started this group because I enjoy hiking but I am not as fast as I used to be. I still "bag" peaks like Mt Tallac, Half Dome and Mt Whitney, just at a slower pace. If you are new to hiking, rehabbing an injury, not as young as you used to be, or just wanting a healthier lifestyle, come join us. This group is not about fast, this group is about the journey and the mutual patience we all need to make it to the top!
