What we're about
This group is for anybody who wants to cultivate a deeper connection with nature and their most authentic selves. We are nature-lovers interested in coming together to shake off the old stories of our culture and live into the new stories that we and the earth are calling for. (Note: while we are all hike-lovers and sometimes saunter, this is not primarily a walking/hiking group)
We will meet 1-4 times a month in a Sacramento-based park for various sense-based and soul-based nature- and self-connection activities, including nature therapy exercises, council circle, creative writing, practices drawn from Joanna Macy and The Work That Reconnects, poetry, foraging, and/or simple mindful activities. We also meet for a monthly Return to Moon hike.
• Slow down in order to be present with nature and hear our own authentic voices
• Hold a healing space for each other and our emotions, including joy, sadness, fear, and anger, with nature as ally.
• Connect with others in nature and cultivate an earth-based community
"If we surrendered to earth’s intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees.” -Rumi
About the Organizers:
We're Katie Baptist and Ryan Van Lenning, Co-founders of Wild Nature Heart (https://wildnatureheart.com/), leading journeys into reconnection with soul-rooted wilderness treks, nature retreats, day quests, vision fasts, and creativity workshops.
We're both writers and certified ecotherapists/nature connection guides (through The Earthbody Institute (https://theearthbodyinstitute.com/)), and thrive on holding space for men and women to reconnect to wild nature, their bodies and soul purposes, and each other.
Looking forward to connecting with you in nature soon!
