BEGINNING MONDAY CHI GONG
YOGA AND CHI GONG. 30 MINUTES YOGA, 30 MINUTES CHI GONG. Chi Gong, the parent of Tai Chi, is an integration of physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention. This Tai Chi-like Chi Gong also brings unity to mind, body, and spirit. This Chi Gong is for those who just want an easy, powerful exercise that covers major energy pathways in the body AND for those who may be movement impaired. This is a gentle but powerful exercise for both those who do not exercise regularly and those who do. My vision for this class is for those with varied flexibility and age-- from young adult to the elderly to practice together an ancient art of health maintenance and healing and, it works! Just as with Tai Chi, there's no need to memorize movements in order to reap benefits from the exercise but benefits will increase if you do. This style of Chi Gong is very Tai Chi like, unlike more stationary Chi Gong movements and is also aerobic. The Eight Treasures is very flowing and movements are easier to follow than Tai Chi. The fluid, slow movements are also mistakenly perceived as just for the elderly. Classes open to anyone 18 and over. The practice of Eight Treasures Chi Gong is a great starter for advancing into Tai Chi, especially if you have not been exercising regularly. TAI CHI is an ancient form of Chinese exercise and self-defense designed to improve physical health, decrease stress and bring unity to mind, body, and spirit. Tai Chi is invigorating, energizing, centering, and health promoting. The Tai Chi form I teach is a powerful, expansive workout, commonly taught on the West Coast, that cultivates your energy and intensively promotes health in all its aspects. Although Tai Chi is indigenous to China and had been kept secret for many years from other cultures, it is now practiced all over the world. It is now a "world" treasure and a variety of age groups can benefit from this form. The practice of Tai Chi with its fluid, slow movements, is mistakenly perceived as just for the elderly. SHAMANIC REIKI combines the powerful techniques of Shamanic journeying and Reiki (above body vibrational massage). Treatments on fully clothed clients on a massage table help connect, guide, and empower people on their soul journey. Each journey is unique.
