Sahaja Yoga is an ancient form of meditation that brings about inner peace in a human being.

The word 'Sahaja' means 'born-with' and 'Yoga' means 'union'.
Sahaja Yoga is a method of union or yoga, which is born within us.

One is able to achieve his 'yoga' or union with the divine energy, through the spontaneous awakening of the inner energy known as 'Kundalini'.

We are all born within us a primordial, motherly energy known as the Kundalini, which rests in the Sacrum bone in a dormant state.

The knowledge of this Kundalini energy is ancient and thousands of years old. But people did not know how to awaken this energy.

Through Sahaja Yoga, tapping into this dormant energy and our spiritual evolution can be attained effortlessly.

As we sit down for meditation and enter into a meditative state, our Kundalini energy begins to rise upwards and pierces through the 6 energy centers or Chakras above it. It finally comes out of the Fontanelle bone area or Crown chakra, establishing a sense of deep peace and bliss.

This establishes an inner state, when one is at peace with himself and his surroundings, the state of pure witness and 'thoughtless awareness'.

When awakening this Kundalini energy for the first time, this process is also known as Self Realization. The "Knowing" is realization of the Self, or Know Thyself, as all the scriptures have written it.

Sahaja Yoga was founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970 and is widely practiced in over 120 nations today.

Hi everyone, What a great way to ring in the new year. Remember that resolve to find the inner peace and joy within, from last year? Volunteers at the Sahaja Yoga Meditation Center offers free beginners and advanced level classes for folks interested to learn the ancient science of meditation. Achieving the state of Thoughtless Awareness is no more a far-fetched goal. Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes begin with that state on your first day.
