What we're about

Ahoy there fellow seafarers,

This MeetUp Group has been evolving to become more focused on sailing as live-aboard lifestyle, cruising long-distances and in remote-areas.

Husband and wife team David & Leanne started out with sailing in the Med, with sail-training in the UK and the Canaries, but are now sailing further afield. In 2016 we bought our boat, a 2003 AMEL Super Maramu, and since then have been setting PERIGEE up and shaking-down whilst exploring the US East Coast, the Caribbean and the Central Americas. Now PERIGEE is being prepared for a Pacific crossing during May and June 2019, from Panama to the Marquesas in French Polynesia.

The MeetUp is being more focused towards Crew Calls for those wishing to join PERIGEE as crew, to explore and adventure in the South Pacific.

We will for the time being still support sailing activities closer to the UK.

Yours aye, David (your meet-up group organiser)

Here is another trip for everyone incl. absolute Beginners, within easy reach of London. Don't worry, it won't be hard core sailing but it's not only party and sleeping either.... Hope to see you all... Friday: We meet at the boat between 1900 and 2000 load the food and go for a nice dinner in a local pub, have a safety briefing and sleep on the boat. Please make sure that you arrive in good time so you can be on the boat NO LATER THAN 20:00! Saturday: We start with a safety briefing and some basic instructions then, depending on weather, wind and crew we aim to sail around the Solent and to the Isle of Wight, visiting Beaulieu and Cowes or maybe Lymington or Yarmouth. In the evening we go ashore for a stroll and/or dinner and stay overnight in one of the marinas, sleeping on the boat. There are some really nice pubs and bars... Sunday: Depending on weather and the night before we will get up, have breakfast on the boat and have another day of leisurely sailing. We will arrive at around 1600 tidy the boat and return to London. Our Boat: The yacht is most likely a 38 foot Beneteau with MCA safety coding for 8 people. We will be 6 to 8 people on board and everyone will get involved in every part of sailing. This trip is for people of all levels including complete beginners. What’s included? The cost of £200/person for the charter. There will be a small kitty for all food and drinks aboard, marina charges, diesel. What is not included?
