Facebook and Google have both seen fit to build and open source C++ libraries which they consider general purpose supplements to the STL. Unlike Boost, which is a large playground of functionality, these libraries seem to be focused toward solving a core set of mission-critical problems these companies have.
John Fultz will present an overview of the libraries and detail some of the more interesting functionality in each library. He'll also discuss some of the motivations behind these libraries, with some thoughts about what these packages might indicate about how C++ software is being created at these two companies.
