Details

“The farther we've gotten from the magic and mystery of our past, the more we've come to need Halloween.” –Paula Guran

The Origins of Halloween explains the stories, symbols and history behind the most bewitching time of year!

What it all comes down to is this: practicing Paganism is a way of bringing a disillusioned people back in touch with the magic and mystery of existence, and Halloween is the very epitome of mystery and magic. Halloween and the Celtic new year, Samhain, are just two of many historical festivals for the dead. Nearly every culture has one. This class will attempt to peel back the dynamic layers of ancient belief, religion, occult tradition, symbolism, folklore and modern commercialism that informs this, the most mysterious and macabre turn of the wheel!

This is a HANDS ON class! We will be carving jack-o-lanterns, one of the earliest Halloween symbols, during the class. Please bring your own pumpkin. Plastic, towels, candles and carving tools will be provided.

Class price is $9 per student, receive a $2 discount for paying cash.
