What we're about

The San Antonio Writers’ Guild is a group of writers who meet regularly. It is a 501c3 non-profit organization, which has helped writers develop their craft for over 25 years. While the associated Facebook group is open to all, we recommend joining the Guild as a dues paying member.

Becoming a Guild member allows for reduced rates for entries to the annual contest, access to read and have work critiqued during our weekly sessions, and member rates on special events.

San Antonio Writers’ Guild is an organization of writers of all kinds and all levels of experience. Our purpose is to share information among all writers and help each other grow in our craft. Through contests, critique and other communication we are a friendly, invaluable fellowship.

Ongoing events include a general meeting on the first Thursday of each month and workshops, the second, third and fourth Wednesday and every Saturday.

Needs a location

The San Antonio Writers Guild's 28th annual writing contest will close at the end of January - don't miss out! Our preliminary judges are busy reading, studying and providing excellent comments on a large group of stunningly good entries. Those entries that score highest will progress to assessment by well-known professional writers. Each winner will receive a cash prize, a year's SAWG membership, and the honor of corresponding directly with the professional judge who made the final choices, in order to learn how to best sharpen and strengthen those writing skills. Do not miss this unique opportunity! Pull out or open up, dust off, finish, edit, finish again, and submit you favorite draft this week! Unlike many other contests, SAWG holds no rights to any work that is entered. And the entry fees are designed to simply break even.
