Title 1: "Java Idioms"
Abstract 1:
Knowing programming idioms makes us more powerful and faster developers. This session will cover common (and not so common) idioms with regular expressions, file I/O and streams/lambdas. After attending this session, you’ll be able to impress your co-workers with your increased speed in solving programming tasks. You’ll also have the tools to spend less time on the “easy tasks” and more time solving business problems.

This talk will be presented at Dev Nexus in Atlanta. You will get to be the first group in the world to hear it presented live!

Title 2: "Choosing the right Java vendor and strategy"
Abstract 2:
When using Java, many people used to just download Oracle’s JDK and call it a day. The world is a more complicated place these days. I will give a vendor neutral overview of the different Java options and support models along with tips for choosing one. This session will also cover how to decide how often to update and strategies for dealing with the 6 month/three year options. Finally, I will highlight some of my favorite features from Java 11, 12 and 13. Don’t worry, Java 13 isn’t unlucky!

This talk was originally presented at Oracle Code One and got strong ratings. It comes with an opportunity to win chocolate.
