• San Diego Rust May 2020 Tele-Meetup

    Online event

UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution related to SARS-CoV-2, this will be a tele-presence meetup on Google Hangouts. *We ask that you please update your RSVP in the same manner as if it was a physical meeting, and similarly endeavor to be punctual.* We reserve the right to restrict access to the conference after it has begun to minimize disruptions. No-shows are bad for group morale, but it's easy to fix! Just update your RSVP :) We will be circulating the conference link via the matrix room. PLEASE JOIN THE MATRIX ROOM! https://matrix.to/#/!BTZNhKtcBWqrggpnfq:matrix.org Are you a noob? That's ok! People of all skill levels are welcomed. We'll point you in the right direction and help get you started. San Diego Rust meets the second Thursday of every month. Be sure to join our Matrix chatroom for any questions about the meetup, or friendly banter about rust: https://matrix.to/#/!BTZNhKtcBWqrggpnfq:matrix.org Meeting Prep: A laptop with the Rust compiler already installed. Visiting https://www.rust-lang.org/learn/get-started is highly recommended. If you don't have a laptop, no worries, we usually share a screen on projectors/TVs in the meeting space so everyone in a group can watch as the meeting exercise comes together. Meeting Agenda: 1. Greet ( Lol, no pizza for tele-meetups ) 2. Show off your Rust workflow! Show and tell your Rust IDE and toolset of choice. Discussion about different tools such as Clippy and Rustfmt. Learn about the different possibilities so that you can use Rust in the way that works best for you. 3. Short project presentations 4. General questions and educational assistance

UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution related to SARS-CoV-2, this will most likely be a tele-presence meetup on Google Hangouts. While it is regrettable that we won't be able to socialize in person with our regular attendees, we hope that this experiment may allow new folks to attend who might not have made it otherwise. The commute is a breeze ;) *We ask that you please update your RSVP in the same manner as if it was a physical meeting, and similarly endeavor to be punctual.* We reserve the right to restrict access to the conference after it has begun to minimize disruptions. • San Diego Rust January 2020 Meetup

Come join us for food and fun while we continue learning Rust. Meeting agenda TBA. Have ideas for our January 2020 meetup? Lightning talks, show-and-tell of your projects, problems, anything you're interested in. Message us here on Meetup or on Gitter (https://gitter.im/sdrust/Lobby) During December's meeting, we discussed possibly changing what chat platform to use going forward (we are currently using Gitter.im), as well as trying to find a location going forward where we can hold monthly meetings. The venue for the December meetup (Lestat's Hillcrest) was moderately popular, however, we did notice that the meeting room lacks things like a projector, some semblance of quiet (the meeting room had open-topped walls), as well as the usual parking issues associated with Hillcrest. So, if you have any ideas of what chat platform you would like to use, or know where we could hold future meetings (somewhere in UTC/Golden Triangle seemed to be popular with everyone who attended), please join the Gitter channel or reply here on Meetup and let's discuss! San Diego Rust usually meets the second Thursday of every month. Meeting Prep: A laptop with the Rust compiler already installed (https://www.rust-lang.org/learn/get-started) is highly recommended.
