Updates regarding November 17th Meetup

Hey everyone,

Just a few updates about the meetup on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, David wasn’t able to make it to San Francisco. Fortunately, he’s sent two other people from Google to talk about Kubernetes who he said are even more competent on the topic. Allan Naim is global product lead, google cloud platform and Eli Bixby is a developer programs engineer.

I’ve increased the capacity to 150 people, which cleared out the RSVP wait list. If anyone else had not signed up for the wait list, there are now a few spots open. This has been done on the assumption that some percentage of people who RSVP won’t show up; the venue has seating for roughly 120 people.

Fastly and Internap are sponsoring food, and treating us to something better than pizza! Rosamunde Sausage Grill will be catered for us, which means all kinds of sausage (including a few vegan/vegetarian options), potato salad, baked beans, etc. Fastly is also providing a few kegs of their “carefully chosen” beer. Thanks so much guys, and a huge shoutout to Elaine Greenberg for putting everything together.

Fastly is sponsoring food and beer, and providing us a venue. Their software is great, their team is brilliant, and they've been contributing to San Francisco DevOps since I founded the meetup in 2011. Fastly is the only content delivery network that gives businesses complete control over how they serve content, unprecedented access to real-time performance analytics, and the ability to cache frequently changing content at the edge. Their secure, global network allows enterprises to increase revenue and improve customer experiences across their websites and mobile applications while maintaining fast, consistent, and reliable performance.

Internap is sponsoring food. They are one of the only companies offering high performance cloud and managed servers in the same data centers as bare metal and racks. They have multiple cloud offerings (public, private, and hybrid powered by OpenStack), high quality IP/bandwidth (backed by a managed internet route optimizer), a CDN, managed DNS, security services (including intrusion detection and prevention), storage and backup. Please feel free to ask me for more information about their offerings; they've been my go-to for years, and I built MoPub in their data centers.

I'm very much looking forward to the meetup, and I have a few more planned for the coming months that I think everyone will enjoy. However, if you have suggestions for speakers, or your company wants to host or sponsor a meetup, please do let me know.

Thanks,

James Sulinski
