What we're about

San Jose Woman's Club, serving women and the community since 1894, has an active calendar of events, provides scholarships for local students, funds local and women's charitable organizations, and performs charitable work. We have ten Activity Sections: Antiques , Be a Dear and Donate a Brassiere, Besse Book Group, Bridge, Companion Animal Welfare, Ladies Who Do Lunch, Mahjong, Needle Arts, Walking for Fun and Health, and Women in Leadership and Technology. We also have special events and fundraisers throughout the year.

Come join us! Events and membership are open to all, not just women. Please note that joining the Meetup does not mean joining the San Jose Woman's Club. Membership only $60 per year, but it's not required to attend. If you are interested in joining San Jose Woman's Club as a member, visit our membership page for more details: http://www.sjwomansclub.org/members.html .

Online Creative Writing Class @ SJWC

San Jose Woman's Club

Have you ever wanted to learn how to create inspiring poems, plot fiction, or organize a life story? Do you have that story or poem you've always wanted to write, but don't know how to start? Are you wondering what to do during COVID, now that you've already built a garden, baked your umpteenth loaf of sourdough and binge-watched Friends for the fourth time? Join SJWC members and friends for an online Creative Writing Class taught by writing coach and instructor, Renee K. Nelson. The four week class will be held via Zoom on Wednesdays, from 6-8 pm., beginning July 15. Cost is $10 for SJWC members and $25 for friends of the Club. Register at: https://sjwcwriting.eventbrite.com Renee has a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University and teaches Creative Writing at the college level in the Bay Area. She has been published in Zyzzyva, Broadsided, Eleven Eleven, Switchback, Ping Pong, Prick of the Spindle, Hamilton Stone Review, Transfer, and others. During the course of four weeks, Renee will introduce three genres: short fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. She'll help us learn the fundamentals, engage in the writing process, and gain experience applying the strategies that make for imaginative writing. We will then wrap up the class with an introduction to the process of publication. You'll leave the class with the skills to get started and the motivation to keep going. We look forward to seeing you there! ("Andiron Cabin #6 'Write' typewriter" by tgifreytag is licensed under CC BY-NC 2.0)
