Let’s go find Lost Maples!
History Lost Ma­ples State Nat­ural Area cov­ers 2,174.2 acres in Ban­dera and Real coun­ties. It is north of Vanderpool on the Sabinal River. Purchased from private owners in 1973 and 1974, the site opened on Sept. 1, 1979. About 200,000 people visit the park each year. We will plan on doing an7-8 mile hike. Combining 2 trails. This is a strenuous hike. We will be doing trails with elevation changes, rocks, dirt, and yes some trail turd. Car pool option: We will meet Behind Whataburger in 1604 and Bandera road at exactly 7:00 am. Meet in the parking lot at Lost Maples at 8:30 am for those not car pooling. Let me know if you are in line to get in or when you are in the parking lot at the park. Park fees 6 dollars a person or free with a state pass. Please bring some gas money for the driver. It is approximately 2 hours from San Antonio. Early dinner after the hike is an option. Adults only Bring: Water (lots of it). Camelback recommended.
